Swim spas: swim, relax and train in one
A swim spa combines a swimming section with an adjustable current and a fully equipped spa section with hydromassage, all in one unit. Fonteyn offers a wide range from leading brands, from compact models for smaller gardens to large swim spas that work as a full alternative to a pool. Swimming, aqua fitness, recovery and relaxation, all year round, in your own garden.
A swim spa is an investment to enjoy for years. The current needs to match your swimming, the unit needs to fit the garden and the technology needs to be right, and the surest way to judge that is to step in. At the UK’s Biggest Outdoor Living Showroom in Leicester, swim spas stand filled and up to temperature. Climb in, swim a few strokes against the current, feel the difference between the models and talk placement through with a Fonteyn specialist, who guides the whole journey from advice to delivery and connection.
The big advantage over a swimming pool is year-round use. The insulated shell and heating hold the water at temperature even in winter, while the water volume is a fraction of a pool, which keeps running costs and maintenance manageable. After your swim, step straight across to the warm spa section for a hydromassage.
The brands, including The Beast
The swim spa collection brings together models from several brands, each with its own approach to current and comfort, from solo training to family models.
Passion Spas
FlagshipThe broadest choice, split across series. Fitness: solo swim training with a strong current. Activity: the River Swim System for a broad, even current that feels like open water. Three technologies that make the difference

Current types
Varies by brandThe current shapes the swim. The River Swim System creates a broad, even flow that feels like open water, while turbine jets deliver a concentrated, powerful current. Every type is adjustable, from gentle movement to intensive training.

Dual-zone temperature
Larger modelsThe larger swim spas have independent temperature control for the swim and spa sections: the swim zone around 26 to 28°C for performance, the spa zone at 37 to 39°C for relaxation. Two zones, two temperatures, one unit.

Choosing water depth
Standard or DeepThe standard version offers plenty of depth for aqua fitness, recovery and recreational swimming. The Deep version goes further for fully submerged swimming with proper stroke technique, the logical choice for serious swimmers and taller users.
What to look out for
Swim length: the swim zone shapes the experience. For serious training, aim for at least 5 metres, while 4 metres is plenty for aqua fitness and recreational use.
Space and base: leave around 80cm clear around the swim spa for maintenance, the cover and easy access. A filled swim spa is very heavy, so a flat, load-bearing base such as a concrete slab is essential.
Connection: most swim spas need a dedicated supply for the powerful pumps, while some compact models run on a standard supply. The requirement is shown on each product page, and a qualified electrician handles the connection.
Freestanding or built in: a swim spa can stand freely in the garden or be partly built into a deck or patio for a sleek, pool-like look. A Fonteyn specialist can talk through the options.

Frequently asked questions
What exactly is a swim spa?
A swim spa is a compact pool with a powerful, adjustable current. You swim on the spot against the flow, and the same unit works as a spa for warm-water relaxation and massage. It combines exercise, recovery and downtime in one.
How strong is the current?
The current is fully adjustable, from a gentle flow for beginners to a strong push for serious training. Passion and Turbine Range models are known for a smooth, even current. You can try different settings in the Leicester showroom.
How much space does a swim spa need?
Far less than a swimming pool. Sizes range from compact models for smaller gardens to larger swim spas with separate zones. A flat, load-bearing base is needed, and the Fonteyn team will advise on the right spot.
Can a swim spa be used all year round?
Yes. A swim spa heats efficiently and is insulated for year-round use, so you can swim in the depths of winter and relax under the stars in summer. A cover keeps heat in and running costs sensible.
What is The Beast?
The Beast is a swim spa range developed with strongman Eddie Hall, built for serious power and performance. It includes record-breaking models and sits at the top of the Fonteyn swim spa line-up.
What does installation involve?
The swim spa needs a flat, load-bearing base and a power supply. Fonteyn arranges delivery and positioning, and the team will talk through access, groundwork and connection before the day.
How much does a swim spa cost to run?
Running costs depend on the model, the temperature and how often it is used. Full insulation, efficient pumps and a good cover all help keep costs sensible. A specialist can give guidance for any model.
